UMB approached the project with the desire to obtain the highest level of Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification possible, while being mindful of the cost of the project.

Many factors were evaluated within the designs of all of the participating disciplines (architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and civil engineering). PlanetReuse supported the pursuit of all available reuse options for the project.

The 3,200-square-foot project incorporated reclaimed lumber on the exterior, along with brick across the bottom. The roof and impervious areas of the wedge-shaped property was designed to collect and funnel runoff to a rain garden, which was adorned with park benches and a sculpture.

Reclaimed Materials Used

  • 80 year old reclaimed pickle barrel tanks from Dean’s Foods in Green Bay, WI
  • 3,700SF of 4” and 6” redwoods for exterior rain screen siding
  • 2,600LF of redwood furring strips for siding attachment
