Start Us Up: WSJ Startup of the Year

June 17, 2013

It’s an exciting day here at PlanetReuse Marketplace. We’re thrilled to announce (drumroll please) that we have been selected to join the Wall Street Journal’s Startup of the Year project.

Hope to see you soon, Steve.
PlanetReuse Marketplace, along with 23 other promising startups, will participate in a 5-month program, completing branding and business strategy tasks, learning from mentors (Sir Richard BransonSteve Case and Beth Comstock are on the roster) and documenting our success.

We are honored to be part of a program put on by the prestigious Wall Street Journal, and eager to get outside our comfort zones, develop our creativity and expand our thinking. Oh, and the whole thing is being taped.

Getting camera ready
We’ll have more to announce as the competition progresses, and we hope you’ll tune in to see us represent our company, the amazing Kansas City startup community and the future of reuse.

Calling All ReUse Centers!

February 26, 2013

Help boost awareness about the reuse industry and YOUR reuse center by:

Confirming your free Store Finder listing and
participating in a quick 10 question survey.

Since 2008, PlanetReuse has been working with construction and demolition professionals to reuse commercial building materials and keep them out of the landfill. This year, PlanetReuse launched PlanetReuse Marketplace, a website that connects residential reusers with reuse centers. By showcasing reuse centers and their inventories online, PlanetReuse Marketplace is making it easier for everyone to help reduce construction and demolition waste from 40% to 30% by 2020!

In this month’s Building Materials Reuse Association (BMRA) newsletter, PlanetReuse Marketplace and the BMRA are asking reuse centers…

  • What are the most important aspects of managing a successful reuse center?
  • What websites help draw new reusers to your front door?
  • What business tools are you using to maximize your impact?
Know other reuse centers in your area?  Please forward this message to them.

Not a reuse center, but interested in survey findings?

Results of this survey will be published for all members in an upcoming BMRA e-news bulletin and discussed at DECON'13 in Seattle.

Thanks for spreading the word!

PlanetReuse Begins Beta Testing New National Online Platform for Reuse Centers

January 13, 2012
Since 2008, PlanetReuse has been expertly matching commercial materials with designers, builders and owners to save projects money, serve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) efforts and sustain the planet. PlanetReuse is now expanding its services to make use of reclaimed building materials more commonplace in the residential construction market.

PlanetReuse has begun testing its proprietary InvenQuery technology platform, a web- and mobile app-based system that offers real-time inventory, point-of-sale and e-commerce serviced tailored for the reuse center industry. Formerly called PlanetRestore, the InvenQuery technology platform will power PlanetReuse Marketplace, an online store to debut later this year, that will help reuse centers make reclaimed and surplus building materials instantly accessible to homeowners nationwide.

Currently, reuse centers sell less than 5% of their inventory online. If you are a reuse center interested in learning more about InvenQuery and PlanetReuse Marketplace (coming soon), please contact us at
